Rings and Borders

Happy Friday everyone, what a busy week! I hope you have enjoyed looking at all the cards in the new launch from Colourific.  In today’s card I have used stamps from the Beach Border and the A5 Rings stamp sets.

Here is what you will need:

Dark red square card base
Dark red card
White Stamping Card
A5 Rings Stamp Set
Beach Borders Stamp Set
Versamark
Gold Detail Embossing Powder
Gold Nuvo Drops
Onyx Black Versafine
Clear Embossing Powder
3D Foam Pads
Watercolour Pencils
Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink
Iridescent Glitter Glue

Here’s how to make the card:

  1. Firstly, stamp the star ring using Black Versafine and Clear Embossing Powder.
  2. Stamp and emboss the candle from the Rings set using the same ink and powder.
  3. Colour the candle and the stars using watercolour pencils.  When dry, lightly blend a little of the Squeezed Lemonade ink over the area where the flame is to give it a yellow glow.
  4. I then decorated the mat layers with the zigzag and dots border around the four sides of the dark red smaller square and the larger white square, crossing the lines at the corner.  For the borders I stamped with Versamark and Gold Detail Embossing Powder.
  5. On a separate piece of card, I stamped 4 baubles in Versamark and gold embossed them.  I coloured these in with watercolour pencils.
  6. Cut out the ring leaving a 4 mm border and fussy cut the four baubles.
  7. Mount the ring in the middle of the red square using 3D foam pads.
  8. Mount the red square onto the white square and the white square into the red card base using glue or double sided tape.
  9. Finally fix the 4 baubles on the four corners of the white square using 3D Foam pads, add a gold Nuvo drop to the corners of the red square and add a touch of glitter glue to the baubles and candle flame.
Watch out for tomorrow’s card!

    CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW HOME

Here’s another of my cards from the new launch of stamps from Colourific . This time I’ve used the A5 Houses stamps. These lovely stamps come in a pack with lots of accessory stamps to decorate your homes and gardens.
    Here’s whst you will need:

    A5 Houses stamp set
    White Stamping Card
    Cream Card for mounting
Base card - I used a Brown 6” square card
    Versafine Onyx Black
    Watercolour paints
    Distress Ink, Brushed Corduroy
    Iridescent Glitter Glue
    Gold Nuvo Drops

    Here’s how I made it.

    1. Stamp the two houses into a piece of 5x5” stamping card using Versafine.
    2. Stamp the fence at either side of the Houses, then add the fir trees in the garden.
    3. Stamp one of the houses with the garland swag.
    4. Using a really fine paintbrush, paint the houses, fence and fir trees in watercolour.
    5. Using a wider brush, paint the sky and grass.
    6. Blend the Distress ink around the edges.
    7. Stamp Congratulations in Black Versafine onto the grass bottom right.
    8. Mount onto the Cream Card (5.5x5.5”), then onto the card blank.
    9. Finish off by adding a touch of glitter glue to the windows and add 3 Gold Nuvo Drops to the top right and bottom left corners.  Let this dry.

    That’s your card completed.

    See you next time.

    Gatefold Deer in the Forest

    Hi everybody,
It's Maria here, my turn to show you a card.  I've used the Winter Wonderland stamp set from Colourific to make this lovely gatefold card.
To make this card you will need:
    A4 White card
    A5 Winter Wonderland Stamp set
    Co-ordinating winter backing paper
Die cuts of Reindeer and snowflakes
    Distress Oxides for colouring
    White Pen
    Grey Alcohol pen
    Versafine Smokey Grey ink pad
    Catherine Pooler Aquatini ink pad
    Tacky Glue
    Green Sparkly paper/glitter card
    Frame Die
    Gelly Roll sparkle pen
    Black Fineliner

This is how I made it:
    1.  Cut a White card base 294mm x 150mm - to make gatefold, score at 73mm and 220mm.
    2.  Cut a piece of stamping card 92mm x 135mm and stamp the deer onto the card, then make a mask and cover the image.
    3.  Using a blue Distress Oxide ink pad, gently blend the top of the card to show blue sky, fade out towards the bottom 1/4.
    4.  Stamp the bare trees using the grey Versafine in the two different sizes and with a grey alcohol pen draw shadows under the trees.
    5. Remove the mask from the deer and colour using the different colours of Distress Oxides.  I used a Gelly Roll sparkle pen for the antlers and a fineliner for the nose.  I then coloured the trees and added white pen to highlight areas of the trees.
    6.  Blend around the outside of the topper with the Aquatini ink pad.
    7.  Cut a piece of the green sparkle paper to 100mm x 143mm and mount the topper onto this.
    8.  To make the shaped card base, I folded along the fold marks to make the gatefold shape, I slipped the frame die in the middle, cut side up so that it cuts the front two flaps, then put it through the die cutter.
    9.  Next I cut 2 pieces of one backing paper and 1 of the corresponding paper to 5mm smaller than the back panel.  Take one of each paper and die cut a frame in the middle (line up to the card base before you cut). Then cut down the middle so you have 4 pieces.
    10.  With the other square backing sheet, blend the edges with the Aquatini ink pad.  Centre and glue the topper to this sheet and glue to the inside of the card blank.
    11.  Glue the cut pieces to the front gatefold flaps, leaving a small border on the inside of the cut.  Make sure you put the same pattern on the inside of the flap as the paper on the back panel.
    12.  Glue two die cut reindeer to the front two flaps with a snowflake die cut at the top of each gatefold flap.
    13.  Finally, add different sized snowflake die cuts to the outside of the topper on the back panel and add Gelly Roll sparkle pen onto the snowflakes.

There you go, all done. It does take a little time but it’s worth it. Don’t forget to give me a shout if you’re stuck.

    A Nod to Andy

Hello everybody, it's Maria here and for today's post I have been influenced by the style of Andy Warhol in making a picture made from the Campervan stamp set from Colourific.

To make this 8x8" picture you will need:
    Colourific Campervan Stamp set
    Stamping white card
    Masking paper or fluid
    Clear Embossing Powder
    Coloured ink pads
(I used Spectrum Noir Harmony ink pads in Lemon Tonic, Ocean Blue, Grasshopper and Fushia)
    Versa Fine Onyx ink pad
    Silver gel pen
    Paintbrush
Brayer and Gelli plate or just blend the colour with a blending brush or sponge
    Double sided tape.

Here is how I made it:
    1. Firstly cut four pieces of stamping card cut to 4" x 4" and stamp the Campervan image in the centre of each of the cards.
    2. Emboss these with clear embossing powder.
    3. Mask off the windscreen and the lights with masking paper or masking fluid and let it dry.
    4. Colour each of the full cards with the inks. (I used a brayer and Gelli plate)
    5. If you want to add texture to the inks, add a splash of water and dry with heat gun.
    6. Take off the masking paper or rub off the gum and colour with the inks in a corresponding colour.
    7. Using a paint brush add more of the same colour to the flowers of the campervan to make them stand out more.
    8. Once dry, attach double sided tape to the back of each of the cards and stick them to a piece of 8" x 8" card.
    9. Frame - I bought this one for a pound in the Poundshop.
There you go, all done.  This makes a great picture for a teenagers bedroom wall, or wherever you want really.

    Bye for now

    Hibiscus on vellum

    Hi everybody, Maria here!

It's Friday so its my turn to show you what I have made this week.  I love the black and white look with a hint of metallic, so I tried the Hibiscus stamp from Colourific on vellum with gold and silver pixie powders.

To make this card you will need:

    A5 Hibiscus stamp from Colourific
    Sheet of white vellum
    Onyx Black Versafine ink
Mirror Card in Gold and Silver
    Grey Pearl card
    Small piece of black card
    Versamark
    White Card Blank
    4 x Brads
    Black Card
    Gold Embossing ink
    Sentiment out of stash
    Gold and Silver Pixie Powders
    Water Spritzer
    Heat Tool
    3D foam pads
    Double Sided sticky tape

Here is how to make it:
    1. Sprinkle the gold and silver pixie powder onto a piece of white vellum 13.5cm square.  Spritz the powder with water and either let it dry on its own or use a heat gun.  nb.  The vellum will crinkle more with the heat gun - but this all adds to the texture.
    2. Stamp the flower head, the small stem and flourishes randomly on the vellum using the versafine ink.
    3. Lightly spritz the vellum with Pure Pearl Mist ink spray from Pearlywinks and leave to dry.
    4. Attach this to the mirror card which is cut to exactly the same size by using brads.
    5. Mount this onto a piece of pearl grey card and then onto the 6x6" card base.
    6. Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of black card by using Versamark and emboss in Gold embossing powder.
    7. Cut into the shape of a banner and mount onto gold mirror card.
    8. Attach the banner to the card using 3D foam pads
That's it, all done.  You will find the card looks better in the flesh as you will be able to see all the shimmer and glitz from the pixie powders and the pearl spray finish.  Hope you enjoy making it.
